Waste Management – Shaping a Greener, More Sustainable Future
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Waste Service Team at Wiltshire Council as a Waste Technical Officer.
Our Waste Service oversees the crucial tasks of procuring and executing statutory waste management processes for Wiltshire Council. This includes managing waste disposal, diverting waste from landfill, and implementing various waste management contracts. The service also operates household recycling centres, manages kerbside waste and recycling services, and drives the council’s waste prevention and minimisation efforts.
As a Waste Technical Officer, you will provide technical support to the council’s waste and recycling collection and waste management services and proactively manage a regular caseload of waste enquiries and complaint, performing site visits, waste audits and recommending actions. You will also provide advice to property developers and planning colleagues on the appropriate design of housing developments to ensure satisfactory delivery of waste and recycling collections, as well as undertake various analytical project work, including support the Waste Transformation Programme.
We are seeking a candidate with well-developed ICT skills and with proven ability to work with information systems and databases, including Microsoft Access and Excel. Excellent communication skills alongside the ability to handle complaints and concerns sympathetically and positively will be essential.
